GOLDEN GATE
Florida Highway Patrol says a bicyclist was killed in a crash in Golden Gate on Friday night.
Troopers say a car was driving north on 41st Street SW around 6:45 p.m. when it hit the back of a bicycle being ridden by a 45-year-old man from Naples.
FHP says the collision caused the bicyclist to leave his bike. They say he was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car suspected of being involved, a 2021 Toyota Camry, fled and was later found by troopers. The driver of that car is still unknown.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating and asks that anyone with information about the crash contact them or Crime Stoppers/.
