GLADES COUNTY
Multiple victims, including a pregnant woman, died in a Glades County crash shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Lexus SUV was driving the wrong way on US 27, south of County Road 773 crashing head-on with a Jeep Compass.
Before the head-on crash, the Jeep was in the left lane on US 27.
After the crash, the Jeep was overturned and burst into flames while the Lexus came to a stop on US 27.
The driver and pregnant passenger in the Jeep were pronounced dead at the scene.
“The crash resulted in four fatalities, one of them being an unborn fetus, and a serious injury,” FHP lieutenant Gregory Bueno said.
FHP is still waiting to positively identify the driver and pregnant woman in the Jeep.
The crash remains under investigation.
