A 16-year-old boy in Fort Myers was arrested Monday after police say he was found in possession of child pornography.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers were alerted on Jan. 5 by the teenager’s family members to the possibility of him distributing child pornography. Detectives obtained the necessary search warrants to complete their investigation, which included the social media app WhatsApp.
Following the investigation, the 16-year-old faces nine counts of possession of obscene material and nine counts of obscene communication. He was taken into custody without incident and remains in the Lee County Jail.
