Members of the Republican Executive Party of Lee County are calling on Governor DeSantis to “ban the jab” in a new proposed resolution.
The resolution will be voted on this week. The resolution calls for DeSantis to ban the sale and distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.
WINK News spoke with Tara Jenner, the vice chair of the Lee County Republican Party, about the resolution.
“There is a feeling that it is a ‘bioweapon,’” Jenner said.

“There are concerns for individuals because of lack of informed consent,” Jenner said.
And that’s why some Lee County GOP leaders want DeSantis to eliminate the need for “informed consent” by banning the vaccine entirely. They wrote a resolution the entire Executive Committee would vote on this week.
Jenner is among those who will vote on the resolution. WINK News asked her, “I believe I read there was a part of that resolution that said, essentially, on behalf of the preservation of the human race, we call on Governor DeSantis to ban the Covid-19 Vaccine.”
“I believe that is a fair description of the ‘jist’ of what it is,” Jenner responded.
Jenner said she has no opinion on the proposed resolution and refused to give WINK News her take on the idea.
“I think it goes against the Republican principles of; Number one – freedom of choice. And number two – personal responsibility,” Doris Cortese, the former Vice Chair of the Lee County Republican Party, said.
Cortese, on the other hand, didn’t mind giving her take.
“I think some of the things that they’re getting involved in is not the RECs responsibility,” Cortese said.
Cortese, a force in the Lee County GOP for years, was replaced with Jenner as the Vice Chair.
“You may not want to have the vaccine. I respect that. I may want to have it, you should respect that. I don’t think it’s something that the Governor should outlaw,” Cortese said.

Voting no was Cortese’s message to the Executive Committee of the Republicans of Lee County.
“I just don’t agree with it. It’s something we agree to disagree on,” Cortese said.
WINK News reached out to the man who wrote the proposed resolution, Joe Sansone, but have not gotten a response. The vote on the resolution happens Tuesday night.
