2 Lee County corrections officers fired, arrested for battery against inmates

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno says two corrections officers have been fired and are facing battery charges for actions against inmates.

Sheriff Marceno said Casey Howell faces charges of felony official misconduct, felony battery, and misdemeanor battery. Enzo Finamore faces charges of felony official misconduct, and misdemeanor battery.

According to Marceno, during routine checks, injuries were seen on an inmate that appeared to be burned. The deputy who discovered the injuries then informed a supervisor.

An investigation determined the inmate had first- and second-degree burns that resulted from Howell and Finamore throwing scolding hot water at the inmate to gain compliance.

Marceno said an additional inmate was discovered to have similar injuries.

The sheriff’s office says Howell is being held on a $16,500 bond, and Finamore is being held on a $6,500 bond.
