CHARLOTTE COUNTY
Florida Highway Patrol says a 64-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle crash on US-41 in Charlotte County on Monday.
Troopers say a pickup truck towing a trailer was traveling south on US-41 near Zemel Road just before 8 a.m. when they lost control. FHP says the truck crossed the median and collided head-on with an SUV.
According to troopers, the SUV traveled into the right northbound lane after the initial crash and collided with a sedan.
The 64-year-old Cape Coral woman who died was a passenger in the sedan. The 48-year-old driving the sedan had only minor injuries.
Troopers say the 28-year-old driving the truck and his 29-year-old and 40-year-old passengers also had minor injuries. They say the 32-year-old driver of the SUV has serious injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol says they are still investigating to determine if a semi-truck was involved as a non-contact participant in the crash.
