Man sentenced to 15 years for selling drugs at Charlotte County gas station

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

A man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling drugs out of his truck in the parking lot of a Charlotte County gas station in 2018.

William Leo McBride, 51, was found guilty and sentenced for drug trafficking and other drug charges following a January trial in Charlotte County.

He was sentenced as follows:

Count 1: Trafficking in amphetamines (14 to 28 grams) – sentenced as a habitual felony offender to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years of drug offender probation, plus court costs, fines and fees
Count 2: Sale/delivery of a controlled substance – sentenced as a habitual felony offender to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years of drug offender probation
Count 3: Possession of a controlled substance with intent – 15 years in prison
Count 4: Transportation of drug paraphernalia – sentenced as a habitual felony offender to 10 years in prison

The sentences are to be served concurrently.

McBride was seen selling drugs during surveillance by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office as part of an undercover drug operation in October 2018. McBride sold drugs out of his truck in a gas station parking lot in Charlotte County. He sold 27 grams of methamphetamine and 10 Hydromorphone pills.
