SOUTH FORT MYERS
For the 12th year, the Cross Creek Ladies 9-hole Golf League is driving home the importance of feeding people in our community.
They raised more than $9,000 on Tuesday at their annual golf outing that will go toward the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
One-hundred ladies participated, raising money with entrance fees, donations and buying mulligans, all to the benefit of hungry families in Southwest Florida.
“Some people have never gone to any food bank and this year it’s the place they are getting their nutrition and the school children, too, get all of their food from school and are sent home with food on the weekend so there is something to eat,” said Linda Piantoni. “I just feel very humbled and glad to do this.”
WINK News is hoping to raise enough funds to serve 1 million meals in the community.
