A 39-year-old woman from Punta Gorda, riding in the passenger seat, died in a crash Tuesday morning in Lee County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Toyota driven by a 40-year-old man from Punta Gorda was in the outside lane going north on I-75, north of Exit 138.
Then, the man lost control of the Toyota. Consequently, the car overturned and stopped on the east shoulder.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
