A school resource officer from Fort Myers Middle School was notified of a threat to her assigned school at 3050 Central Avenue on Tuesday.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, the resource officer was briefed of a sixth-grade student attending Fort Myers Middle School posting a specific threat to an Instagram account saying, “Let Mr. Terrence go, or ima be shooting up the school idc”.
While speaking with investigators, the student revealed they did post the threat but as a joke.
The student was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail.
The student faces the following charges, FSS 836.10 Written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting/act of terrorism.
